For long I have a curiosity to know and understand the Logic behind not paying the royalty to the authors whose articles have been accepted and published in the Research Journals. The question is when authors of Books get the royalty then why not authors of Research Articles?
The authors do a lot of efforts and are able to get their paper published. The Publishers like Emerald, Taylor and Francis and some others sell these papers multiple times and earned a lot of money out of that. The authors get only Academic recognition!
On the Flip side, if authors get the regular royalty for the same, it would be some time more than the remuneration they are getting out of their regular employment. This would be able to attract more and more people to adopt research writing as a profession.
Moreover, see the anarchy, even they are not authorized to share their own article with anyone! Paying the royalty to authors of published articles may encourage even corporate also as the monetization of their efforts may encourage them in certain cases.
Please share your views, it may help to Develop Research Culture by Encouraging faculty to write Quality Articles.
